Springfield xd 9mm review9/17/2023 ![]() ![]() Featuring an ergonomic grip angle, this weapon fits as if it was a natural extension of a shooter's hand helping to improve accuracy on the draw. Springfield's XD has a track record for proven reliability and performance. Its Minimal Reset Trigger requires extremely short trigger travel and a short reset making this an excellent handgun for competitions allowing you to accurately and quickly fire off multiple rounds. For this, I say Thank You Springfield, you have a customer for life. The XDM is equipped with a match grade barrel, minimal reset trigger, and Melonite finish right out of the box making this an exceptional performing gun. Anytime I have needed to call, they were very polite and courteous, and always resolved anything that the call was regarding. Not to mention if you ever have a question or concern, Springfield customer service is one of the greatest to work with. I trust it with my life to carry it daily, and to me, that speaks volumes about the firearm and the manufacturer. The XDs 9mm is a great little firearm and a lot of fun to shoot. Keeping this in mind, you should be all set. If you’re cleaning the barrel, watch your fingers and hands on that sharp feed ramp! It’s gone into my skin a few times and let me tell you, it’s sharp and painful. My only hangup in this department is the feed ramp on the barrel. This firearm is very easy to take down, and even easier to clean. It’s definitely not as bad shooting this vs the 45, but I still find the grip to be very abrasive. This is obviously personal preference, as some people enjoy the grip very much. The grip etching is pretty rough, and I ended up throwing on some Talon Grips to make it a little more comfortable. Well, unless your hands are made out of stone, be prepared to hurt after a few rounds. Word on the street is that this is a done deal. Again, here’s hoping for a 40 S&W version (that’s directed at you, Springfield). I have yet to hear negative feedback for this firearm, and am pretty confident that Springfield has it nailed. I expect nothing but perfection when it comes to a concealed carry firearm, and this XDs fits the bill 100%. As with all of my firearms, I removed all of the factory lubrication and gave it a treatment with Eezox Synthetic Lubricant. ![]() The XDs 9mm has worked flawlessly out of the box, and continues to provide nothing but great times at the range. It also helps to teach proper grip while training. This is a genius concept that they have had for years, as you would be putting pressure on that part of the firearm whenever you were to pull the trigger. If you want to argue with me on this, I can already tell you that your argument is invalid because it is impossible to run through and be prepared for every single situation that may arise.Īside from the trigger safety and loaded chamber indicator, they have implemented a back-strap safety that needs a firm grip in order to disengage. I am not a fan of manual safeties, as under pressure they may be difficult to disengage. The safeties on this firearm were what drew me to it in the first place. Again, much less recoil than the 45 version (as expected), but still very manageable considering it’s small size. The design is pretty flawless and allows for ease of control, especially with follow-ups. With the 9mm version, this is a great ‘starter’ firearm for someone who is newer to concealed carry. Just as the 45 version, I have found it to be extremely manageable when it comes to recoil and follow-up shots. Overall with the 7 rounder, this firearm is nice and slim perfect for a tight fit against your hip.įor the full list of specs, click here. You do have the option for the extended magazine which would provide you with 9+1, however this adds considerable height to the firearm. The capacity is slightly lacking, being a single stack, and will only accommodate 7 rounds in the magazine +1 in the chamber. This thing is tiny and feels great both in hand and on hip. It measures 4.4″ high, 6.3″ long and just 1″ in width. The Springfield XDs 9mm is classified as a sub-compact, single stack 9mm. As these are very similar firearms, we will be using much of the same information from our previous review of the 45 version. If you missed our review on the Springfield XDs 45, be sure to check that out as well. We hope a 40 S&W version is next…(spoiler alert: it is) They did it, and we couldn’t be happier the Springfield XDs in a 9mm. ![]()
